A wonderful and perfectly mastered imitation of Zhang Ze Rui's handscroll of "Ching Ming Festival on the River", which is now kept in the Forbidden City Museum of P.R.C. The painting shows in details the real scene of bustle and excitement of a metropolitan life in Bian Lian, the capital of North Song Dynasty (960-1126). It begins from the suburbs of the capital city to its center, containing lots of figures, ships, animals, houses, streets, sedans and bridges, and so on.
Ching Ming (clear and bright) is a solar term which indicates the month of April of each year.
